Mexico and Turkey are top holiday destinations for many Brits as research finds these holiday hot spots offer sought after particularly for their cost effective all-inclusive breaks.

There has been a 168 percent increase in currency sales for the Mexican Peso in the first three months of the year, compared to the same time in 2010.

The Global Foreign Exchange Services Currency Index, by American Express, tracks each quarter the top 25 currencies for British travellers.  They revealed a trend in the increasing popularity of all-inclusive holiday deals.

Currency volumes for Turkey increased by 115 percent in this period, while previous favourites like Egypt, fell by 50 percent due to local conflict.  Egypt however, remains in fourth position as this conflict only had a short term effect.

"Not only do Turkey and Mexico offer favourable exchange rates for the pound, they are also well-known all-inclusive destinations," commented Terry Perrin, American Express Global Foreign Exchange Services director.

“The 'all-inclusive' holiday trend has increased in recent years as holidaymakers, especially families, like to plan their spend ahead of time.”

KAYAK, a travel search site, also backs up these finds.  Annie Wilson, the website’s UK country manager, said they had seen a 38 percent increase in the number of search for holidays in Turkey over the last few months.

She added the company expects to see an increase in searches for mini-breaks in the coming weeks, due to the recent back-to-back bank holiday season.

Travel Money Cards

For travellers seeking either a short weekend break abroad, or an all-inclusive summer holiday in sunnier climes, consider taking a travel money card.

These cards mean families and individuals alike, can keep their money safe without the need to withdraw large amounts of cash, or change traveller’s cheques.  They also help holidaymakers budget, as the user can only spent the funds they loaded on the card prior the holiday.

So if you are keen to book an all-inclusive holiday to ensure you do not go over budget and over-spend, a travel money card could be the perfect companion.
